What is Biofeedback?

biofeed The biofeedback method uses sensors to record and display on the computer screen bodily functions such as breathing, pulse, sweat secretion or muscle tensioning, that we are normally not consciously aware of nor influence.

This allows patients to become aware of their internal psychological and physical processes and to influence these positively in their day-to-day lives. The training consists of the work with the biofeedback machine on the one hand and the learning of specific exercises to be carried out at home on the other.

The aim of biofeedback training is for patients to recognise stress and fear factors in their own bodies and use this awareness to improve the related negative bodily functions or physical complaints.

There are no side-effects to biofeedback training and it often helps to reduce drug dosage.

Bio-feedback training helps with:

  • headaches and neck pains
  • high blood pressure (essential hypertension)
  • weakness of the pelvic floor muscles and incontinence
  • promotion of relaxation and stress reduction
