The intestine is the largest immune organ in the human body. Almost 80% of all the defensive cells that constitute our immune system and stabilise our feeling of well-being are located in the intestine. It works around the clock and is the only part of our body that has its own nervous system. If it is weakened, the strength of the whole immune system is diminished.

Symptoms of a deficient intestinal flora include:

  • diarrhoea
  • flatulence
  • constipation
  • a general feeling of indisposition
  • vitamin deficiency
  • bad skin condition
The intestine also has a great impact on our psychological feeling of well-being, because it transmits important information to the brain. A disturbed stomach-brain communication has a negative effect on our overall well-being.
