When do I need psychological or psychotherapeutic support?

Psychological pain can intensify if left untreated or repressed over a long period of time. Psychological problems can then also lead to physical symptoms and vice versa. We therefore advise you to seek a psychological consultation as early as possible if your state of health changes. We make time for your problems, feelings and current circumstances.

You are very welcome to come to Trinicum for a free initial and informative consultation. The treating psychologist will then discuss the next steps with you. It may be that the initial consultation is enough and you do not require any further support and so several sessions are not always necessary.

What is the difference between a psychologcial consultation and a psychotherapeutic consultation?

As part of the consultation, all treatments deal with mental illness. The difference between a psychologist and a psychotherapist lies in the training. Psychologists have studied psychology; psychotherapists do not necessarily have to have studied psychology or medicine to be allowed to do psychotherapeutic training. Doctors can also train to become psychotherapists. For specialists in psychiatry and psychotherapeutic medicine, this is already part of the training. Psychotropic medications can only be prescribed by a doctor.

At Trinicum, the focus lies on psychological or psychotherapeutic treatment. Physical stress, chronic pain, depression and other symptoms can be discussed during the initial consultation. Once agreed, the psychological aspects are then treated. In any case, it is important that patients feel comfortable with their caregivers.

Who can have psychological and psychotherapeutic treatment?

You can visit us by getting in touch directly or if you have a referral. Consultations are not only for those directly affected, but also for those within their social circle. Common triggers for psychological pain are stress, burnout, conflict or chronic pain and physical discomfort.

If you have any questions or doubts about psychological or psychotherapeutic treatment, feel free to get in touch with us.

I have never been to a psychologist or psychotherapist. Do I Need to prepare anything for the first meeting?

Unless you have discussed this in advance, you do not need to prepare for the first meeting. During the first session, or initial consultation, we will focus on your current state of health, your physical and mental well-being, your circumstances and your surroundings. All factors will be immediately assessed.

How many sessions are there as part of the treatment?

The number of sessions ranges from once to several times. If you wish to carry out psychological and psychotherapeutic treatment at Trinicum, the treating psychotherapist or psychologist will first discuss your treatment plan with you. The number of sessions is determined depending on your diagnosis and current situation. These can vary depending on your needs and wishes.

How often do the session take place?

Sessions can range from several times a week to monthly. Your psychotherapist will discuss how often your treatments will take place with you during your initial consultation. Your wishes and your needs will be taken into consideration. Similarly, the time intervals between your sessions may change as your treatment progresses.

I don´t want anyone to know that I´m seeking psychological helt. Is that possible?

Psychologists, psychotherapists and psychiatrists are bound by confidentiality. They are obligated to keep what is discussed, as well as anything else the patient tells them, to themselves.
At Trinicum, your medical records are kept confidential.
