Corona-Test

Either the PCR test (Polymerase Chain Reaction) or the antibody test can detect an infection with SARS-CoV-19. The antigen rapid tests work differently, here only the proteins or the protein envelope of the genetic material are detected, in the PCR test the genetic material itself. Antigen tests are suitable for identifying persons with a high viral load (so-called superspreaders). To identify infected persons with a low viral load (e.g. at the beginning or end of an infection), the PCR test (gold standard) is more suitable. Antibody tests provide information about a past infection or the effectiveness of a vaccination.
