The PCR test using a nasal or throat swab (gold standard) is currently the most reliable and trustworthy test to diagnose a coronavirus infection in the early stages.
To perform this test, a swab is taken from the nostrils or pharynx then screened for the virus RNA.

The PCR test makes sense
- in order to diagnose an active infection
- in order to diagnose the illness at an early stage before any symptoms of an infection appear
The test is specific, meaning that positive results are considered reliable. Therefore, the PCR test is recommended by health officials. The swab is taken at our sampling point at Trinicum LAB Zaunergasse 4 (1030 Vienna) under secure conditions and subject to the highest standards of hygiene. The subsequent evaluation of the sample is carried out by a CE-certified laboratory.
Costs
Standard PCR test:
- Delivery of test report by 6 a.m. the next day at latest
- 35 euros with report of test results
Rapid PCR test:
- Result within 4 hours
- 49 euros with report of test results
Ultra Fast Lane PCR test:
- Results within 30 to 60 minutes
- 89 euros with report of test result
- Only very limited availability from Roche at present due to global supply chain issues.
For each PCR test you will receive a test certificate (inc. EU QR code) for the Green Pass.
For an additional medical certificate including proof of identity, which is required when entering certain countries (e.g. Japan), we charge an additional 30 euros.
Test result and delivery of test report
You will receive the test result from us by email. To increase the security of the test result, a second swab is recommended at least 24 hours apart.

Important information: Through cooperation with several laboratories, Trinicum can facilitate rapid analyses even with a large number of tests. Nevertheless, there can be delays in medical tests and analyses in the laboratory. Trinicum diagnostics will not accept any liability arising from the late arrival of results.
